A Picture Can Say A Thousand Words...

We just had too many pictures to choose from for our official adoption profile with LDS Family Services, so we thought that we would share just a few (okay, kind of a lot) more pictures with you!

I picked this picture because I love the expression on Tim's face--a mixture of love and trying not to laugh.

We are so grateful for the blessings of the temple and that we are married for time and all eternity.

And we are so grateful for our sweet son, Mason, and that he is sealed to us for time and eternity as well!

Tim loves being a Dad!  And Mason loves his Dad!  Mason loves greeting his Daddy every day when he comes home from work at the hospital.  They love to play with balls together, ride outside on Mason's tonka truck and Tim gives him his bath each night before bedtime.

Chelsey thinks the best job in the world is being a Mom!  Every morning she gets to wake up to the sound of her baby yelling down to her to come get him out of his crib and then seeing a big smile on his face when she walks into the room singing the Good Morning song.  Their days together usually involve lots of time reading books, playing pretend (knights/prince/princess, firemen, pirates, playing instruments in a band, etc...) eating (Mason needs lots of snacks!), visiting the park or a local museum, going to playgroup or Music Makers, story time at the library, etc...  It's also a day full of kisses and hugs, singing songs, and dancing in the kitchen!  Basically, every day with Mason is wonderful (even in his sad or grumpy moments).

Mason is growing up so fast!  We can't believe that he talks our ear off, climbs and jumps off everything, loves to pretend to be a prince or a knight as he runs around his house on his stick horse with a sword, can recite his ABCs and count to twenty, and gives us the best hugs and kisses each day.  Here is one of our favorite videos of Mason, but it was taken on one of our camera phones rather than our camcorder so the picture quality isn't quite as good, but it shows what a cute and fun little boy he is!

We love our family and love for them to visit us.  Here is a picture of Tim's parents visiting us in Virginia.  We are at a beautiful, local park.

In October 2012 we went on a beach trip with Tim’s family to Myrtle Beach.  Mason loved all the time with his family and had so much fun playing with his cousins!  (Shown enjoying a motorcycle ride with his cousin.)

Chelsey's family visiting us in Virginia.  We are touring Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's home, in this picture.

In June 2012, we went to Florida with Chelsey’s family to visit Disney World and Universal Studios.  Mason’s favorite parks were Animal Kingdom and Seuss Landing.  He LOVED the rides at Seuss Landing and demanded to go again and again.  And he LOVED all the attention and love from his Grandparents and Aunts!

Tim proposed in the cutest, most creative way:  it's a long story, but it involved a boat ride at sunset, dancing and fireworks.  Loved it.  Now, each year we try to do something to celebrate the anniversary of the day that Tim proposed to Chelsey.

On a Bahamas cruise, we had some great fun playing on board the ship.  The best activity was a trampoline with a bungee cord that we were strapped into.  We were able flip around high in the air.

Central Park.  We had so much fun visiting NYC for Thanksgiving 2009.  We went to the Macy's Day parade, walked around Central Park, went to the muscials Shrek and West Side Story, took the Staten Island Ferry to view the Statue of Liberty and ate some yummy New York Pizza!

We love Disney World!  Before Mason joined our family, just the two of us visited Florida to take in the Disney magic. We waited in line with all of the other kids to get pictures with some of our favorite characters.  And we vowed to take our kids there as soon as we could!

Mason’s first visit to Florida was in March 2012.  Disney was a new experience for us since we had a child of our own to introduce to the Disney wonders.  Mason loved it and we loved watching Mason’s excitement.

Date night!  Spending time together is important to us.  Here we are eating at an Indian food restaurant, one of our favorites!  And here is Mason, enjoying a stuffed toy that we won for him after a date night at Dave & Busters arcade.

We love playing in the water...going wakeboarding and to the beach especially!

Halloween!  We had fun in our home-made Ninja Turtle costumes at a friend's Halloween party.

For Halloween 2012 Mason dressed up as the cutest parrot you have ever seen!  He was so excited for the candy and to play with all of his friends, since we went trick-or-treating as a group.   He especially wanted a lollipop!

Obviously you could tell we had fun with holidays before Mason joined our family (did you notice the Ninja Turtle picture above???), but really adding a baby into the mix makes it so much more fun!  Here is a pic of Mason's first visit to Santa!

During Christmas season 2012 we went to a local park that had a special holiday event… a visit to Santa, a carousel, a train ride with twinkle lights to view along the tracks, live bands, and special holiday crafts.  It was so much fun and a great way to celebrate the holiday season!  (Pictured as we waited for our turn on the carousel.)

Mason going on a boat ride at a nearby park.

We love all kinds of family activities...such as taking Mason to the Life and Science Museum where he can see butterflies and dinosaurs (not pictured)...

going to the park...

enjoying seasonal festivities like a trip to a corn maze and pumpkin patch in the Fall  (the picture above is the pumpkin patch we visited in 2011),

(the pony ride was Mason's favorite activity at the pumpkin patch we visited in 2012)

and visiting local museums (this one was a sports museum, if you couldn't tell!).

We love each other so much and can't wait to add even more love to our family with another baby!

A Letter from Tim's Parents

To Our Prospective Birth Mother/Parents:

We are excited at the prospect of becoming Grandparents to a wonderful little boy or girl in need of a loving family. We have loved being Tim’s parents and have enjoyed more than anything the two grandsons we have been blessed with from two of our three sons. The thought of having more grandchildren and the fun it will be for these children to have cousins is so exciting, as extended families are a beautiful thing.

Extended families have been a big part of our lives. We have had close relationships to our Grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Extended family members have been a huge part of Tim’s life. We had many trips and vacations that we took with Tim’s aunts, uncles and many cousins. The stories we tell about trips to Lake Tahoe and Zion’s National Park still make us laugh because of the fun times we have all had throughout our children’s growing up years.  We hope to add to these experiences as grandparents with our children and grandchildren.

When we think of Tim as a young boy, the biggest qualities that stick out are those of being sensitive and responsible. There are several examples of this; when Tim was just six-years-old, he found out his little brother would not grow teeth the way a normal child would, therefore, he would not lose teeth in order for the tooth fairy to come. Of course, this was the biggest concern of a five-year-old child who is losing his own teeth. So, the next time Timothy lost a tooth, he gave it to us to save for his little brother to use when he it was time for him to need a tooth of his own to put under his pillow. This brought tears to our eyes, we knew then what an amazing big brother Tim would be. He has also been extremely responsible. Again, while at a young age, around seven-years-old, we came home from a “date night” to find Tim making sure his two little brothers were being cared for and playing with them (while the babysitter watched TV). We never worried about Tim, even as he got older, to do the responsible thing with his brothers. He and both of his younger brothers have always been very close.

Even now, Tim’s sensitivity and responsibility is strong. His love for his wife is forever sound. He has been extremely thoughtful of the difficulty they have had in having a child of their own. Not only does Tim talk about the desire for being a father, but more for the concern and love of his wife, knowing how badly she wants to be a mother. His first concern for having a family comes in doing anything he can to make his wife’s dreams of being a mother come true. Of course, that doesn’t discount his own desire for a family. Tim has always wanted a profession in the medical field, but his decision for the exact medical field is completely based on being available for his family. He wants a profession that will allow him to spend as much time as possible with his beautiful wife and their children. All of his efforts in medical school have revolved around having a career that will not only support his family but also give him plenty of time to be a big part of their lives and to be an involved Dad.

As Tim’s parents, we have loved his choice of Chelsey as his forever companion and future mother of our grandchildren. Any child would be truly blessed to be a part of this eternal family. Chelsey and Tim’s personalities are so complimentary to each other; they are truly a unified couple in all that they do. We have never seen anything between them but complete and utter love for each other. There is no question in either of our minds as to the blessing they would be for a birth mother to know their child would be truly cared for by a loving Mother and Father.

For a little over a year now, Tim and Chelsey have been parents to a beautiful little boy, Mason.  It’s amazing how they find the time to do such fun things with him.  Even though Tim’s career keeps him busy, every minute he’s home they seem to be doing something fun together, going to parks, museums, the beach, and anything else they can do with one another.  While Tim is working hard to support his little family, Chelsey is providing the nurturing, loving, and learning experiences that a child needs, reading to him, taking him on walks, visiting the library, having play dates with other children, along with many other activities.  Their love and care for Mason is obvious and truly a joy to watch.  Our favorite times, as we live so far away while Tim is going through his residency, is the time we get to watch him grow and talk to him through Skype.  The times we do get to visit and have him visit us brings us more happiness and love for this sweet little boy than we thought imaginable.  We are excited for him to become a big brother and know he and his Mom and Dad will be blessed to have another child join their family.

To You, our Prospective Birth Mother or Birth Parents, we would be truly honored to be a part of your child’s life. Please be assured that your child would be loved and cared for in every possible way. We would be eternally grateful for the love and courageous spirit you would be showing to give your child what he/she needs to grow up in such a complete and loving family.

Thank you for considering Tim, Chelsey, Mason and our extended families in your search for a loving family for your child.

Love,

Scott and Joy

A Letter From Chelsey's Parents

Dear Friends,

Chelsey is our oldest daughter. We’re very proud of her and are glad for the opportunity to talk about her a little bit as she and her husband  begin the process to adopt their second child.

Chelsey has excelled in almost all undertakings. She received top grades in school, lettered in tennis, served as Class Vice-President in junior high and as a Student Body Officer in high school, graduated at the top of her class from the University of Utah, and has always been an active member of the LDS Church. She always had good friends and has good social skills.

Chelsey tries new things; she doesn’t have the reservations about new experiences most of us have.
  • On a family trip to Zion’s National Park, we hiked a trail called Angel’s Landing. On the way to the peak you have to cross several narrow precipices, which made some of us nervous to the extent of considering turning around and heading back to the trail head. Chelsey had no problem and led the way to the top.
  • After graduating from high school, Chelsey moved with one of her best friends to Moab, Utah, to work for the summer. She enjoyed living in a new place and meeting new friends. She felt the same way when her husband was accepted to a medical school across the country; she welcomed the new experience and different opportunities that living on the East Coast offers.
Chelsey’s interests include her extended family. During her childhood, we spent a lot of time with her grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins. On a recent trip to Utah, she made sure her activities included extended family get-togethers.

When growing up, Chelsey and her Dad did a lot together. They played tennis, snow skied, exercised at the gym, and went on Sunday evening walks. One time, Chelsey thought it would be fun to hike Mount Timpanogos, a hike in Utah over 14 miles long. While hiking, Dad saw a bee buzzing around Chelsey’s head. Dad started swatting at the bee with his hat. Alarmed, Chelsey started running away, with Dad in pursuit swinging his hat at the bee (in the direction of her head). The mountain was crowded, with many onlookers enjoying the curious sight: the old man chasing the young lady with his hat a-waving. This incident resulted in Chelsey’s very first bee sting.

Chelsey enjoys cooking tasty meals. She learned to cook from her Mom, Grandma, and by searching for new recipes to try.

Chelsey met her husband, Tim, at the University of Utah. When they first met, her husband had his mouth wired shut because he had just had jaw surgery. Once they could communicate, they first became friends and after a few months started dating. During college, Chelsey would regularly meet her Dad at work for lunch after her morning classes and would amuse him with her dating stories. Her Dad could tell when she started dating Tim that this relationship was different than the other boys she had dated. He could tell that Chelsey really admired Tim even before they were dating, had enjoyed being his friend, and was surprised and excited that their friendship was developing into something more.

Chelsey and Tim are the best of friends. They really enjoy each other’s company and are always finding fun activities to do together. They have fun with outdoor activities, as well as cultural events. One weekend they will be hiking, boating, or body boarding at the beach together, and the next they will be touring local historical sites or attending a musical. Tim currently studies medicine, which is very demanding; yet, they find time to do things together. Their relationship has always been a top priority.

Chelsey and Tim are ready to expand their family. They have been great parents to their oldest son, Mason.  He is now a little over one and is such a wonderful addition to our family.  We are anxious for him to have a brother or sister who will be equally loved.

Our daughters were able to spend a lot of time with their grandparents when they were young and now, when they talk about their childhood, those times are some of their dearest and strongest memories. We want to continue this tradition, impacting the lives of our own grandchildren. We plan on spending a lot of time with our grandchildren and have enjoyed spoiling them, hugging them, teaching them, and loving them.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our family. May God’s choicest blessing be bestowed upon you.

Love,

Wes and Kathy
