A Letter From Chelsey's Parents

Dear Friends,

Chelsey is our oldest daughter. We’re very proud of her and are glad for the opportunity to talk about her a little bit as she and her husband  begin the process to adopt their second child.

Chelsey has excelled in almost all undertakings. She received top grades in school, lettered in tennis, served as Class Vice-President in junior high and as a Student Body Officer in high school, graduated at the top of her class from the University of Utah, and has always been an active member of the LDS Church. She always had good friends and has good social skills.

Chelsey tries new things; she doesn’t have the reservations about new experiences most of us have.
  • On a family trip to Zion’s National Park, we hiked a trail called Angel’s Landing. On the way to the peak you have to cross several narrow precipices, which made some of us nervous to the extent of considering turning around and heading back to the trail head. Chelsey had no problem and led the way to the top.
  • After graduating from high school, Chelsey moved with one of her best friends to Moab, Utah, to work for the summer. She enjoyed living in a new place and meeting new friends. She felt the same way when her husband was accepted to a medical school across the country; she welcomed the new experience and different opportunities that living on the East Coast offers.
Chelsey’s interests include her extended family. During her childhood, we spent a lot of time with her grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins. On a recent trip to Utah, she made sure her activities included extended family get-togethers.

When growing up, Chelsey and her Dad did a lot together. They played tennis, snow skied, exercised at the gym, and went on Sunday evening walks. One time, Chelsey thought it would be fun to hike Mount Timpanogos, a hike in Utah over 14 miles long. While hiking, Dad saw a bee buzzing around Chelsey’s head. Dad started swatting at the bee with his hat. Alarmed, Chelsey started running away, with Dad in pursuit swinging his hat at the bee (in the direction of her head). The mountain was crowded, with many onlookers enjoying the curious sight: the old man chasing the young lady with his hat a-waving. This incident resulted in Chelsey’s very first bee sting.

Chelsey enjoys cooking tasty meals. She learned to cook from her Mom, Grandma, and by searching for new recipes to try.

Chelsey met her husband, Tim, at the University of Utah. When they first met, her husband had his mouth wired shut because he had just had jaw surgery. Once they could communicate, they first became friends and after a few months started dating. During college, Chelsey would regularly meet her Dad at work for lunch after her morning classes and would amuse him with her dating stories. Her Dad could tell when she started dating Tim that this relationship was different than the other boys she had dated. He could tell that Chelsey really admired Tim even before they were dating, had enjoyed being his friend, and was surprised and excited that their friendship was developing into something more.

Chelsey and Tim are the best of friends. They really enjoy each other’s company and are always finding fun activities to do together. They have fun with outdoor activities, as well as cultural events. One weekend they will be hiking, boating, or body boarding at the beach together, and the next they will be touring local historical sites or attending a musical. Tim currently studies medicine, which is very demanding; yet, they find time to do things together. Their relationship has always been a top priority.

Chelsey and Tim are ready to expand their family. They have been great parents to their oldest son, Mason.  He is now a little over one and is such a wonderful addition to our family.  We are anxious for him to have a brother or sister who will be equally loved.

Our daughters were able to spend a lot of time with their grandparents when they were young and now, when they talk about their childhood, those times are some of their dearest and strongest memories. We want to continue this tradition, impacting the lives of our own grandchildren. We plan on spending a lot of time with our grandchildren and have enjoyed spoiling them, hugging them, teaching them, and loving them.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our family. May God’s choicest blessing be bestowed upon you.

Love,

Wes and Kathy
